ICSTIS announced new definition of sexual entertainment by OFCOM

Ofcom has today issued a Statement in which it has extended the definition of a
Controlled Premium Rate Service (“CPRS”) to cover all Sexual Entertainment Services regardless of price. Such services are therefore, with immediate effect, regulated by ICSTIS. Many, but not all, of these services currently operate using 087 numbers.

ICSTIS will not enforce this amendment to the CPRS ondition for a period of four weeks from the date of this notice (i.e. until Thursday 5 April 2007). This is to allow time for service providers to register their services with ICSTIS.

Under the ICSTIS Code of Practice “Sexual Entertainment Services are services of a clearly sexual nature or any service for which the associated promotional material indicates, or implies, that the service is of a sexual nature”. It is this definition which ICSTIS will use when determining Code compliance and potential Code breaches.
